Mother Goose Time

Mother Goose Time.jpg

We are proud to use the Mother Goose Time™ curriculum, a professionally developed curriculum (since 1984) targeted at children ages 2 1/2 through 5.   This curriculum meets standards for NAEYC (the National Association for the Education of Young Children) and Head Start, and it aligns with the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines.  Mother Goose Time™ is designed to nurture the whole child and support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development with a series of monthly discovery theme-based hands-on activities, art projects, and early literacy and math games.  Each week focuses on an open-ended question that children investigate through their activities, and each day has a focus topic related to that theme.

The play incorporated in these lessons has a purpose, and activities are intentionally designed to invite children to bring their experiences from home into the classroom, with a celebration of diversity and unique perspectives.  Each day offers a range of experiences that build skills in: language arts, math, science, creative development, social-emotional development, physical development.

Gabe - Froebel Gift

The experience for each child is a joy filled educational journey through play. Unique ideas, stories and observations are drawn out from the child by way of specially designed balls, blocks, sticks, rings, and beads. These are what are referred to as “The Froebel Gabe (gifts)”. Gabe toys are perhaps the world’s first educational toys. They certainly were the first materials designed for child development, as Kindergarten was the original preschool method. Through guided Gabe play each child is supported in his/her activity so that the learning process is creative and meaningful.

Art & Craft play an important role in a child’s life when it is introduced at an early age. It enhances a child’s perception, thought process, expression, and appreciation to better himself/herself as they grow up as they learn to express their feelings in a positive manner, which will lead to a happier childhood and an improvement in hand-eye coordination, comprehension, and imaginative development. The goal is to introduce art and have children engage themselves on a daily basis to get familiar with it. There are no limitations when it comes to art. The children will be working with different mediums (paint, pencils, crayons, clay, etc.) as well as learning about colors, shapes, perspective, and light and shadow contrast as they learn about different artists and art history.

Music & Movement

Musical experiences are an important way to help all areas of the child’s development: intellectual, social and emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and mind to work together. Our children learn different types of music and ways they can move their bodies along with the music. It is a great way to expose our children various cultures through instrument and music.

Research shows that kids who are actively involved in music:

Do better in reading and math once they begin school, are able to focus more and control their bodies, play well with others, and form a higher self-esteem.

Worship

We want to allow the child to grow and develop as Jesus did through praise and worship: “in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man,” Luke 2:52. We realize that the child’s development is a process, which continues through the life. We believe that all the children with a loving, nurturing Christian environment which encourages the development of a healthy self-concept will be helped to grow and develop in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
